the abyss means...

Hmm. Clean?

Hmmm.

I was just in the kitchen at work boiling water to make coffee when a man came through the doors into our secure section.

He looked like academic staff. He wore tweed.

He came past me and started using the sink.

Eventually I turned round and saw that he was washing his hands.

No. Not just washing his hands.

Washing his hands using the washing up sponge.

He then left with dripping hands and walked into the men's toilets.

A few minutes later he wandered out of the toilets, picked up his paperwork and left the secure area.

I think that's odd behaviour. But I'm not sure...

Is it just me?

But.

Why?

An absent-minded academic coping with a broken sink (but adequate towelling) in the toilets, I suppose.

I'm impressed that you have a "secure section". Are you sure you aren't building an army of robot dogs?

But why use an old and dirty washing-up sponge?

And why do that before going into the toilets?

And why not wash your hands afterwards as well?

And how did he know the sink was broken in the first place?

Any why come into this section just to wash his hands?

And how did you know about my flying monkey dog army?

Ah, he didn't come from the toilets, then? Maybe he was washing flying-monkey-dog DNA from his hands, and using a warm-air hand-drier so as not to contaminate your tea-towels.
