the abyss means...
None of the gods love wisdom or desire to become wise, for they are wise already -- nor if someone else is wise, do they love wisdom.
Plato, Symposium 203E-204A
It says something about the number of philosophy texts that now when I see a sentence of the form:
"So what is X? According to Ancient Greek Philosopher (AGP)..."
I groan. My mind switches off.
Perhaps it says something about me.
Perhaps I need to read more. Perhaps I ought to stop reading. Perhaps I ought to find something to believe in.
But then 'Belief' is silly.
But 'Gods' are just as silly.
Suppose I were asked to give an argument for my views on the existence of a God or Gods.
Suppose I decided to answer it, rather than give an obvious discordian response.
What would I say?
Hmm....
I think I'd say:
There are no conclusive proofs for the existence of a God or Gods.
There are no conclusive proofs for the non-existence of a God or Gods.
Therefore a God or Gods may or may not exist.
Does it really matter?
(Which is very similar to my response to sceptical arguments as well.)
Have I lost the fun?
