Driving on the Motorway

To celebrate my successful navigation of the M25, while dizzy and unable to focus, I bring you a medley:

There's been a speeding disaster so we'll go to the motorway
Let's get behind the wheel
We'll go driving

Let me drive. Oooh, let me drive.
Let me behind the wheel.

hey I wanna drive
I'm alright if you're alright

i started driving on the motorway
i was feeling down

Tonight the headlight's shining through
There still time
For everything to change

It's driven me before, it seems to be the way
That everyone else get around

The English motorway system can be quite hypnotising
You achieve a Zen-like state, as someone else's driving

Drive dead slow cause the road is slippy
Drive dead slow 'cause it's still slippy
keep it so low tonight

It feels like going nowhere,
going nowhere fast.

driving home between the lines in the road
i swear that i've been through this before

The English motorway system is beautiful and strange
It's been there forever, it's never going to change

Drive in drive out I'm leaving
Drive in drive out
I'll come back again

I drive all day just to find myself
Away alone with no one else

I am a one way motorway
I'm the one that drives away

Is this what driving brings?
All the while we're singing off key

And we're driving just as fast as we can
And we're racing to outrun the wind

Oh, they tell me I'll be home someday.
Well I doubt it if I continue this way

Keep driving, keep driving,
keep driving, keep driving

And you know we've still got time
Hold on tight to the driving wheel
This ride is really out of line

And too fast driving
Driving against velocities extreme, makes you wonder why you're going nowhere fast

At odds, but I try
I know it ain't no Sunday drive
Pressure, it bears down

I never said I was perfect
But I can drive you home

What about this one?

Hmm. Might have been good.

However, I suspect this would have taken me days if I had let in any old driving song!

I limited it to lyrics on one particular lyric site for simplicity. (The Black Box Recorder song doesn't count.)

PJ Harvey's "Driving" is a lovely song too.

What no Divine Comedy? Nor even Smiths?

'Fraid not. I had to stop...
