UPDATE:

OK. Am now happily drunk (real cider for £2 a pint!). I really like the Cowley Club, and plan to make everyone there my friend (if they don't run away in fear first).

I decided to sign up as a member. Becoming a member takes two people who know you to act as referees and then your name going up on a board for a week to see if there are any objections. I was going to wait and get two people who knew me to sponsor me, but I became impatient and settled for one and a half.

This is better than when I became a member of the Slimelight (in my misspent youth). On that occasion, I knew neither of the people sponsoring me!

Please let me be a member. I'll be good.

On a separate note, it looks like I am going back for my birthday next Sunday for a spinach-mushroom-walnut-roulade-thingummy roast dinner...

Hmm. I probably shouldn't write when drunk.

I was going to continue my researches at Slimelight, but why bother with a cover charge when Highgate is free?
