A Question of Style

(This entry got a bit long. I really ought to curtail my ramblings.)

It appears that I have Leuschke's blessing for this distraction / undertaking / venture / insta-monkey (delete as appropriate)...

Mazel Tov! --Leuschke

That's made me happy. Hopefully my comments box will have plenty of luck for the future and will inform me about many exciting things...

Hm, maybe I should get one of these for my page.

I seem to remember thinking the same thing. It is a great idea. However, if you do decide to you would need to allow for the impressive number of people that mistake it for a search box...

So does this go into an email, or an instant-messenger-message, or an SMS, or is it just dumped to a file? Or printed to a printer? Or read aloud at great volume by a harsh computerised voice?

The actual box is just a simple form which sends the comments to me by email, but unfortunately the Wheezy Weasel Vocaliser (WWV) is currently not working on my computer, so I have to read them out to myself. (I suppose I could get away with claiming I was talking to the cat...)

I'm just not hi-tech I suppose. But then that fact is probably shown by this style issue:

Hmm, already-visited links in James's postings are invisible...

Yup. I know. It's annoying. I haven't bothered to sort out a different set of link colours for links within the blockquote tags yet. I had been leaving sorting out my main stylesheet until I did the much needed redesign, but maybe I ought to fix a few things. Maybe tomorrow. (Of course that's what I always say...)

Talking of my stylesheets...

Your "Alternate Style Sheets are available" sidebar bit doesn't seem to have any links at the moment, either...

Ah. Well. I gave up. You can only change the stylesheets if you are using a version of Mozilla or Netscape which has the Use Style option. So, although the stylesheets are available, they are not accessible... Perhaps I ought to rethink my options, before I do something bad...

stylesheet

Yup. That's what I was talking about. I suppose you want me to try again with that switcher do you? Agh. Aaaaargh. One last try can't hurt I suppose. Maybe tomorrow.

Still obsessed with the subject of style, someone queries:

What *is* that strange stained-glass picture above this box...?

Ah. That would be telling. Ok then. I'll tell you. It's a variant of this. There is also a big one here. From my point of view it is better than these, which is enough.

Did that help?

Jorge

Hmm. I suppose that could be taken as a 'Yes'. But. I suspect it is more likely to be referring to that Jean / Jorge mistake. I have to admit I missed it when I read the posting, but a fair few people spotted it. Thanks all.

I'm sure it was a deliberate attempt to test the readership, but, either way hecticjames has dealt with it.

Changing the subject to our British topic of choice:

No snow today, then, after all. Bah.

No, but the Downs were beautiful and white this morning. I almost wanted to go walking. And I didn't crash the car due to snow or ice.

It would be nice to have enough snow to go sledging though. That would make a nice day.

But not on a Tuesday. (Of course, at the moment, every day is a Tuesday for me...)

tuesdays suxxor

Wednesdays do too. And Thursdays! (I never could get the hang of them.) Let's hope for lots of snow on Friday, shall we?
