the abyss means...
Brighton's Pier is falling down, falling down, falling down.

Buld it up with sticks and stones, sticks and stones, sticks and stones

The person who mentioned this to me earlier said "Brighton Pier", and I'm disappointed. I wonder if repairing the West Pier will get priority over building brightly-coloured coffee bars and trainer shops along the promenade, now, or if they'll just give up on it? Sigh.

I would not mind so much if it were the eyesore that is the Palace Pier. (I only noticed they had changed its name to Brighton Pier about 6 months ago and am still adjusting).
From the reports I have heard, no-one expects the West Pier to survive the winter. It's no longer a question of giving up on it, it is possibly too far gone to reclaim.
I am about to go see some photos which were taken today, and should have a better idea then. If I can get copies I will put them up later tonight...

Something very disturbing about 'man-made' structures collapsing, evident in the photos.
On a tangent - we had a famous rock formation in Victoria called "London Bridge" part of which collapsed in 1990, leaving two people stranded on the remaining rock.boynton on December 30, 2002 12:52 PM
